847 Hamlet Street

Owners: Brooks and Monique Anderson

Built in 1900, the home was originally a 1,024 sq. ft ranch. The current homeowners, with the assistance of builder Midnight Blue and architect Laurie A. Gunzelman, revamped the home in 2018 into a 2,200 sq. ft. 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom home.

When you walk in the home, you will find open living spaces throughout the first floor with tall ceilings, oversized doors, and modern finishes that fit the couple’s monochromatic decorating style. Designing the spacious light filled kitchen was especially fun for the couple as they spend most of their time hanging out in this space while Brooks, the family’s chef, regularly cooks delicious meals for family and friends. Their favorite feature of the kitchen is the indoor/outdoor living space courtesy of the glass accordion nana wall that opens to a private patio space. Upstairs you will find a wet bar and a guest suite, perfect for overnight guests and visiting family and friends. Head downstairs for a look at the finished basement with workout and TV entertainment space.

When Brooks, a realtor with the Vutech I Ruff team of HER Realtors, first saw the property, he did not know it would be his home. His office sold the original property to Midnight Blue. He and his wife later walked through the property during framing and realized it would be a perfect home for their growing family.  The floorplan especially resonated with Monique, who was reminded of the traditional shotgun style homes found in her hometown of New Orleans.

The couple moved into the home in September of 2018 and have only fallen more in love with the walkability of the neighborhood and the quiet bricked lined street. The couple is excited to welcome their first child in October and tour guests will get a glimpse into the nursery awaiting the new arrival into their family.
